A: Because every wedding day is unique and you're often booking your photographer far in advance of finalising your wedding day plans, it can be a little tricky to know just how long you may want or need photographic coverage on your wedding day.
To make things as easy and stress free as possible, when you book Joshua Witheford Photography to photograph your wedding, I’ll be with you all day, from preparation right up to and including the coverage of your first dance, no matter how many hours, so deciding on a number of hours in advance is one less thing you need to worry about.
Once booked, I simply work with you to create the very best timeline possible to suit your days plans, one which ensures everything that's important to the two of you is captured beautifully and that your day is as relaxed as possible. All day coverage up to and including your first dance will typically end up being somewhere between 8-10 hours.
If you're planning something more intimate and don't require all day coverage, or you'd like me there to capture your newlywed farewell at the end of the night, no problems, get in touch and I'd love to run through all of my available options with you.
A: Elopements begin at 1,490 and all day wedding coverage starts at 3,490. Couples who work with me invest 5,900 on average. For my full service offerings, click here to get in touch via my contact page and I'd love to get you more details and check my availability for your special day.
A: Consider meaningful places. Considering the below, will usually bring some great options to mind. If you're still struggling though, I'm happy to help and we can always brainstorm some ideas together.
Where do you like to spend time together?
What do you enjoy doing as a couple?
Where have you created your favorite memories?
What is your style?
Do you prefer to be inside or outdoors, or what kind of a setting?
A: Your engagement session will be unique to you as a couple, with your specific story in mind. We'll work together to create your timeline, select outfits and choose locations to create something unique and meaningful to the two of you and your story. Your shoot will be relaxed and a lot of fun!
A: Both my editing and shooting styles are consistent. My photography style is clean and timeless with emphasis on capturing authentic love and affection. My images are natural, light and true to life. On the day it’s my goal to create a comfortable environment for everybody to be themselves and celebrate uninhibited so that I can create beautiful genuine photos of your day. I’m often told that having me with you on the day is like having an extended member of the family or an old friend of the family there, who just happens to have a camera with them.
A: Having an engagement session before you wedding is a great idea! You to have professional photos to remember a very important, though often overshadowed time in your lives together, your engagement!
Though more than that, your engagement session is a great opportunity for me to get to know you better as a couple, before your wedding day, it lets me see how you interact and move together. We're all unique, therefore, throughout your engagement session I get to learn what works best for the two of you and makes you feel most comfortable so that you receive photos that best reflect who you are as a couple.
It also allows for more natural and genuine interaction on your wedding day because you’re already comfortable being in front of my lens. The engagement session will put any worries or concerns that you have at ease because you'll not only know exactly how I work, I also won't be a stranger to you when I arrive to document your wedding day.
Because I'm such a big believer in all of the benefits that come with an engagement session before your wedding day, I offer them at a discounted rate with all wedding bookings, without the option to exchange them for any other product or service. It's absolutely fine if you choose not to have an engagement session, I'll still create a space where the two of you are comfortable being yourselves in front of the camera and we'll capture beautiful, authentic & timeless images for you to remember your day by.
A: Typically, your engagement photos will be ready between 2-3 weeks and your wedding photos within 4-6 weeks.
A: You can expect to receive approx. 60 photographs per hour of coverage for a traditional wedding day, smaller more intimate celebrations may be less.
A: Absolutely! Basic retouching is included at the photographers discretion, though, if you have any specific retouching requests OR you'd like a colour variant of one of your black and white images or vice versa (where possible), then this can be quoted for at the time.
A: Definitely! Black and white imagery has so many wonderful qualities that lend themselves to a wedding day, so a portion of your photos from the day will be in black and white.
The thoughtful way in which I photograph your day means that I will often capture images or series of images throughout the day with black and white in mind, for either stylistic or environmental reasons. Those images are then processed and delivered to you in black and white, not both colour & black and white.
A: No, you won't receive every image taken on the day, though that’s for good reason! I filter through each one of your photos and ensure that you receive the best, highest quality images that tell the most beautiful and complete narrative of your wedding day or session.
With that being said, the thoughtful manner in which I capture your day means that I strive to make every frame count, so you will receive a large majority of the images captured. I believe in delivering the highest quality product to you that I can.
A: While there is a good chance I'll have photographed your venue before, more than half of all of the weddings I capture each year are at new locations, whether overseas, interstate or out of area and that's part of why I love what I do.
For international locations, I visit venues the day before to ensure I'm familiar with the lay of the land. For new venues that are interstate or local, I arrive early on the day to familiarise myself.
A: Yes, I love traveling for weddings! Whether out of area, interstate or overseas, it's possible to have me there to photograph your special day. I'm based in the Blue Mountains, NSW and include the first two hours of travel by car at no additional charge. If your wedding is a little further afield, that isn't a problem. Let me know and I'll be sure to include any travel related costs in your quote so that you have the full price, upfront. Easy!
A: So often images just live on our phones and devices. Though, when it comes to your wedding and the photographs of this special time, printing them out and displaying them in your home or the home of your loved ones, is the way to go. This allows you to cherish those memories directly, without a glowing screen. I offer a variety of products for portrait sessions and weddings, including: archival albums, print boxes, and frame worthy prints.
"The photos tell the story and bring back every feeling from our wedding day and we look at them with love and tears and laughter. Joshua is truly talented and captured everything and we will treasure these forever."
- Siobhan & Tim
"I truly don't know how to properly articulate how grateful we are to you for all of your hard work before, during and after the wedding. Your help in the early days, your encouragement and suggestions helped to keep us on track and your enthusiasm and help on the day was and still is appreciated more than you will ever know. We couldn't have hoped for a better photographer."
- SOPHIE & JAMES
"We instantly felt like we had known each other for years! Josh went above and beyond to make us feel instantly comfortable and relaxed even though we were shooting, at times, in front of an array of strangers. Josh delivered in spades: a natural, joyful and timeless album that captures everything that makes us- us."
